The Mass for the Deceased Clergy is a Mass for those clergy who died during the period of the pandemic, and will include a special commemoration of Archbishop Peter Smith, whose funeral liturgy occurred shortly after the first lockdown in 2020.

The clergy prayed for at this Mass were diverse but united in their preference for Christ and His mission, a mission in which He Himself had called them to share. As the Archbishop preached at this year’s Chrism Mass, “… ordination doesn’t quash our personality or individuality. How could it? This is part of who we are, part of why and how God called us …. Yet, in all our variety, ordination roots us radically in Christ, in whom there can be no division."
