St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George, is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, which covers the London boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority.

Music
St George's Cathedral has a well-established musical tradition, with a diversity of styles represented at the different Masses, ranging from congregational hymns and Mass settings at the 10am Family Mass sung by the Cathedral Consort youth choir, through plainsong and polyphony at the 12pm Solemn Mass sung by the Cathedral Choir of choristers and lay clerks. There is also a Junior Choir for younger children and the Cathedral runs the Southwark Singing Programme.

Readers Meeting

A General Meeting for the Readers is scheduled for Wednesday 8 May at 6pm in the Upper Floor of the Amigo Hall. Fr. Joseph will lead the opening discussion on ‘The Word - the Reader and the Mass.’

The meeting will be updated on the requirements for Certification and the Readers’ Programme from Advent 2024 to Pentecost 2025. Please note that attendance is mandatory for those seeking Certification.
