St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George, is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, which covers the London boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority.

Music
St George's Cathedral has a well-established musical tradition, with a diversity of styles represented at the different Masses, ranging from congregational hymns and Mass settings at the 10am Family Mass sung by the Cathedral Consort youth choir, through plainsong and polyphony at the 12pm Solemn Mass sung by the Cathedral Choir of choristers and lay clerks. There is also a Junior Choir for younger children and the Cathedral runs the Southwark Singing Programme.

Southwark Archdiocese 2024 Life in the Spirit Seminars

Pope Francis has asked for the Life in the Spirit Seminars, which explore what it means to live your life in the power of the Holy Spirit, to be made widely available throughout the Church.

Why not come and find out for yourself why the Pope is so keen on them, by joining this year's diocesan Seminars, starting on St George's Day, 23 April, at various locations around the diocese including St George's Cathedral or on Zoom.
